I take a deep breath
And shut my eyes
Waiting impatiently
For the carnival lights
It begins with a sharp *CLICK*
As they fold themselves inwards and slide
Out and about in a thin chorus.
Echoes like raindrops
Collapse down the long corridor
Following me back
And then past the Big Black
In a warm sum of air
Between trees slanted inwards with menace and grace.
I create the shape with my lips
The whistling stature
Of grandeur at its most grand
Hand-holding fingerfolds like chocolate expressions
And the sweet taste of honey on goose-pimpled skin.

The session begins like a lullaby
As the sky dips down low
Peppering our faces with the glow of white stars.
They come to protect us.
They come to conceal us.
Keeping us warm between nowhere and home.

Ziva: Do you ever think about soulmates?
Tony: They were on Decca, right? Big hit mid-70s? Sort of a disco thing? Sing a few bars and I'll get it.
Ziva: You'll never get it.
~
Tony: Is this side of my head bigger?
Ziva: Yes, but so is the other side.
